One of the most anticipated rematches in jiu-jitsu history will take place Sunday, July 23, at the newly announced Gracie Pro 2017 event series in Rio de Janeiro.

Five years in the making, the dream matchup will pit current absolute jiu-jitsu kingpin Marcus "Buchecha" Almeida against the man who many consider to be the greatest ever, Roger Gracie.

The two first faced each other back in October 2012, with the match ending in a draw based on its submission-only rule set. 

Now the rematch will be with the standard IBJJF rule set, so an official winner is guaranteed to be declared. 

Gracie vs. Buchecha 2 will headline a series of events organized by Kyra Gracie, which includes an open jiu-jitsu competition, speciality store stands, jiu-jitsu clinics, self-defense seminars, and food trucks. 

Kyra Gracie said she wanted to give a different experience for athletes competing in the event. Hosting the Buchecha match with Roger was the best possible way to cap off the event.

"I wanted to the Brazilian fans the opportunity to watch a high-level jiu-jitsu in their home country," she said.
