The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour is almost here, with the UAEJJF 2017/2018 season about the begin.

The first stop is of the Tour is Tokyo, Japan. The Grand Slam takes place on July 15, and each leg of the tour will give out over US$125,000 in prizes, including prizes for the best schools. 

Last year top black belts including Gabriel Arges, Xande Ribeiro, Mackenzie Dern and Nathiely Jesus traveled to compete in Japan, and we're expecting plenty of top names once again as the race for the No.1 place in the ranking begins. 

New for 2017/2018 will be the addition of 'Legends' superfights, with one held at each Grand Slam event. These will help decide contenders for the Legends titles that will be disputed at the World Pro at the end of the season. 

Prizes at the Tokyo Grand Slam

Prize money awarded will range from $500 to $4,000 in several categories, including Black Adult and Master, in the blue, purple, brown and black categories for both men and women.

Black Belt winners in all categories will receive cash prizes of:
1st - $2,500
2nd - $1,500
3rd - $1,000

The Best Academy in each of the five host cities will receive cash prizes of:
1st - $3,000
2nd - $2,000
3rd - $1,000
