Number one-ranked black belt Mackenzie Dern has undergone surgery and will be out until further notice.

The Gracie Humaita black belt posted on her Instagram that she has undergone a surgery on her knee. It relates to an medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury suffered at the recent World Championships in early June.

Dern is one of the most successful female athletes in jiu-jitsu and grappling. She is a two-time World champion, an ADCC champion, Abu Dhabi World Pro champion and a World No-Gi champion. She also holds European and Pan titles, among others.

The average time before an athlete can resume training following MCL surgery is around six weeks.

FloGrappling wishes Mackenzie a speedy recovery and return to action.
