Joao Assis Set To Duel Braga Neto In Orange County

Fight To Win Pro heads back to California this weekend with one of the most stacked cards of the New Year.

Top competitors such as Joao Assis, Antonio Braga Neto, AJ Agazarm, and Baret Yoshida are all converging on Garden Grove, CA, this Saturday, making F2W Pro 61 definitely one event you don’t want to miss.

Main event: Joao Assis vs. Antonio Braga Neto

Joao Assis is a monster on the mats. He took gold at ADCC in 2013 and is a multiple-time Pan champion in the gi. Though he has hit a rough spot in recent months with some submission losses, Assis is game as ever and a massive threat to anyone he faces.

Antonio Braga Neto is black belt under illustrious coach Roberto "Gordo" Correa. Braga Neto peaked early in his jiu-jitsu career, winning two black belt world championships by the time he was 23. He subsequently moved over to MMA and is currently signed to the UFC with a professional MMA record of 9-3. We’re extremely excited to see Brago Neto back in grappling competition and expect him to come out guns blazing.

Co-Main Event: AJ Agazarm vs. Chai Sirisute

This no-gi match pits Gracie Barra's AJ Agazarm against 10th Planet representative Chai Sirisute, an Eddie Bravo black belt and the current head coach of 10th Planet Long Beach. Sirisute possesses a dangerous triangle attack and is certainly looking to tangle things up with leg attacks.

Standing across from Sirisute at F2W Pro 61 will be AJ Agazarm. A man who needs little introduction, Agazarm is known for his outspoken personality and durability. Agazarm had perhaps the best year of his career in 2017, earning silver at BOTH ADCCs and IBJJF No-Gi Worlds. However, victory at F2W eludes the Gracie Barra Lion, and we’re curious to find out if he’s made any adjustments to his game to account for the Fight To Win Pro rule set.

Other Key Matches

  • Baret Yoshida vs. Cleber Luciano
  • Brittney Elkin vs. Tara White
  • Talison Soares vs. Kauan Barboza
  • Catherine Fuhro Perret vs. Erin Herle
