KASAI Pro 2 adds another powerful name to its feature eight-man round-robin tournament with the signing of Dante Leon.
The GF Team representative, who was the 2016 IBJJF World No-Gi champion as a brown belt, will compete in the organization’s World Middleweight Championship tournament at KASAI Pro 2 in Brooklyn, New York, on April 14.
The 22-year-old Canadian grappler, who represents GF Team, steps onto KASAI’s mat fresh off of winning IBJJF No-Gi Pans and IBJJF American Nationals No-Gi Championships in 2017.
“I’m very excited to be a part of KASAI Pro 2,” Leon said. “I’m sure that this rule set, along with the talented athletes already confirmed for the card, will create exciting matches for all fans watching. I can’t wait to scrap on April 14.”
Leon received his black belt in June 2017 after earning top honors as an IBJJF world no-gi champion at brown belt the year prior.
“For someone as young as Dante to boast such a long list of accolades leaves no doubt that we’ve signed one of jiu-jitsu’s greatest North American competitors,” said Rolles Gracie, KASAI President. “We can’t wait to see how this young lion fares against the other elite names chasing KASAI’s World Middleweight Championship.”
Leon joins a stacked lineup of pedigree talent competing for gold at 185lb that now includes DJ Jackson, Richie Martinez, Matheus Diniz, and Craig Jones.
KASAI Pro 2 goes down April 14 at Greenpoint Terminal Warehouse in Brooklyn. Watch it LIVE or On Demand ONLY on FloGrappling.com.
