Undefeated as a brown belt, 20-year-old Matheus Gabriel of Checkmat is aiming to hold more Fight To Win Pro title belts than anybody before.

The lightweight grappler, who comes from the jiu-jitsu hotbed of Manaus in Brazil, is now based in Dallas, Texas.

He holds three F2W title belts in three different divisions: He won the 155lb gi purple belt title and holds the 145lb brown belt titles in both gi and no-gi.

On Friday, Gabriel will dispute the 155lb brown belt gi title in a submission-only match against Joseph Tonche at Fight To Win Pro 65 in Dallas, live on FloGrappling. With a victory, Gabriel would become the only athlete to hold four F2W title belts in different divisions.

“Last year as a purple belt I also unified all the major IBJJF No-Gi titles,” Gabriel says. “I won Pan Ams, No-Gi Worlds, and American Nationals. Also IBJJF Pan Ams in the gi, American Nationals in the gi plus 12 more IBJJF Opens, in gi and no-gi.”

The hyper-talented youngster has had 20 matches since being promoted to brown belt with 15 submissions. As a purple belt, he had a total of 102 matches – 96 wins, including 76 by submission, and six losses (four of those in the absolute division).

Watch Matheus Gabriel compete at Fight To Win Pro 65 LIVE or On Demand on FloGrappling.com on Friday, March 2.
