All eyes were on Europe over the weekend with events taking place at the IBJJF London International Open in London and ACB in Barcelona. Get up to speed with the essential weekend recap.

Langaker does double gold in London 

Norwegian viking jiu-jitsu black belt Tommy Langaker won the hearts of fans around the world with his all-or-nothing style and constant hunt for the submission. 

Heading to London for the IBJJF London Winter International Open – just one week out from Pans — Langaker won gold in the middleweight and open-weight divisions. He would beat the same opponent in both division finals, the American Alec Baulding of Alliance.

Colored belt athletes also get double gold

PSLPB Cicero Costha athletes Vinicius Liberati (heavyweight) and Leonardo Goncalves (ultra-heavyweight) took double gold (weight and absolute) at blue and brown belt, respectively, while Atos purple belt Daniel Eklund (a middleweight) of Sweden got double gold in his division. 



Davi Ramos takes Edwin Najmi’s ACB belt in narrow victory 

Barcelona, Spain was the venue of choice for the most recent ACB Jiu-Jitsu event. Of 16 matches, only two were finished by submission with Rudson Mateus and Luan Carvalho beating Mathias Ribeiro and Daud Adaev respectively. Rudson employed an armbar and Carvalho caught a toehold. 

In the main event, Davi Ramos defeated Edwin Najmi via decision (winning 3 of 5 rounds) to take the 75kg strap. 



Denny Prokopos returns to action 

10th Planet jiu-jitsu expert Denny Prokopos — Eddie Bravo’s first black belt — returned to action over the weekend at a NAGA tournament in the Bay Area. The Greek-American black belt jumped in to compete, as it was the day after the 10-year anniversary of his 10th Planet San Francisco club. 

Prokopos had three matches, winning all of them by submission. Take a look below:
