Garry Tonon's MMA debut is almost upon us, and we now know who he is facing in his first foray into the world of full-contact mixed martial arts fighting at ONE Championship's upcoming event in Bangkok on March 24.
The promotion announced its complete card for ONE: Iron Will on Tuesday, including a matchup between Tonon and Richard “Notorious” Corminal, a lightweight MMA fighter from the Philippines based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He has a professional record of 4-3-0 and possesses real stopping power — all four of his wins are by knockouts.
Of his three losses, two were by TKO and one was via submission, an arm-triangle loss to Arnold Lepont of France.
A noted grappling standout famous for his use of leglocks in professional grappling tournaments, Tonon has been training for his MMA debut at the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York with John Danaher. He also spent time in 2017 at the Tristar Gym in Montreal, Canada, famously the home of legendary UFC champion Georges St-Pierre.
