Mahamed Aly Sends 35 Gis To Social Project In Brazil
Big-hearted Mahamed Aly once again shows why he’s one of the best-loved black belts in the game.
Big-hearted Mahamed Aly once again showed why he’s one of the best-loved black belts in the game by supporting a social project in Brazil that gives jiu-jitsu lessons to kids for free.
Working with his sponsor Grips, Aly arranged for 35 kid's gis to be sent to Projeto Caverna De Adulao in the state of Espirito Santo, Brazil.
Brazil has notoriously high import taxes and the gis were held up by the customs and stuck in the post office. The fees to get them released amounted to over $1,000.
Aly released videos on his social media channels and via a community effort raised over $2,000 in support of the project, with donations coming in from countries such as the USA, Portugal, UK, and more. The extra money was used to buy mats for the kids to train on.
"Apart from the freight, we managed to help a little by buying nine mats for the kids at the project," Aly said. "This made me very happy, and I hope to help even more."
