Rolling in Rio: 'Moreno' Puts On The Pressure

The competitive jiu-jitsu schedule is really starting to heat up as May approaches, and the IBJJF Dallas International Spring Open held over the weekend was no exception.

With IBJJF Worlds only a month away, competitors from all over the country are sweeping up the last bit of points to qualify. On Sunday, Dante Leon walked away from Dallas with a gold medal in the middleweight division, while Tim Spriggs picked up gold uncontested in super-heavy. Both took bronze in the open class.

However, it was Dallas transplant and Soul Fighter's black belt Diogo Araujo who captured double gold in the medium-heavy and absolute divisions—an impressive day for the worlds silver medalist.

In a competitive brown belt open class, two Texas CheckMat standouts closed out the bracket: Mateus Gabriel and Kody Steele both won three matches before meeting in the final.

And finally, purple belt powerhouse Conor DeAngelis cleaned up in Dallas by taking away his third double-gold performance at the tournament.
