Bianca Basilio and Luiza Monteiro both represent Atos, but it didn't stop them from squaring off at the UAEJJF Abu Dhabi World Pro last weekend. 

Monteiro and Basilio were both entered into a round-robin division to decide who would be the second Brazilian representative in the -62kg brown-black belt division. 

Nearly four minutes into the match, Basilio slapped on a vicious straight ankle lock that unfortunately led to Monteiro being rolled off the mat in a wheelchair (luckily she didn't break anything, but she was seen limping for the rest of the week). 

The comments on our Instagram resulted in much discussion (over 160 comments!) with many people questioning the legality of the leglock in the first place. 

The question was over whether Basilio purposely turned inward toward the free leg, a technique that is banned under UAEJJF rules due to the danger placed on the knee of the attacked leg. See No. 22 in the list of prohibited techniques, below. 

We slowed the video down and played it from multiple angles, a privilege the referees don't have in real time.
