Gabriel Grønås is one of the best blue belts you've never heard of.

At least that probably goes for most of you: he's well known in the Nordic jiu-jitsu world where he's been ravaging the competition for years.

A protege of the Tommy Langaker and Espen Mathiesen's WULFING collective, Grønås has medaled at numerous regional events such as the Finnish Open, Swedish Open, and the Copenhagen International.

However, Gabriel just turned 18 this year, and with that has come bigger goals and tougher competition. He had a disappointing performance at the European Championships, losing out in his very first match, and similar situations have followed since entering the adult ranks.

But none of this has phased the budding Norweigan talent.

He's already set his sights on making an impact at the 2019 European Championships and is working hard towards that goal. Tommy Langaker is extremely complimentary of his student, asserting that Gabriel is "100 percent going to change the game—there is no doubt in my mind."

And a few rolls with the young man confirm: he is indeed a savage.

His game resembles a blend of Espen's guard and agility coupled with Tommy's power and relentless pursuit of the submission. He's got a slick cartwheel pass that he hit numerous times during FloGrappling's stay in Norway. We also saw a few drop seo nagis—and of—he's got the berimbolo down pat.

Expect to hear this kid's name again sometime around January.
