Road To Gold: Amanda Monteiro (GF Team)

In the aftermath of the 2018 IBJJF World Championships this past weekend in Long Beach, CA, one thing is absolutely clear: Amanda Monteiro has established herself as the new face of the women's jiu-jitsu black belt light feather division.

Don't believe me?

Consider this: The GF team athlete has now beaten Talita Alencar—the 2017 world champion—four times in a row. Monteiro also bested 2016 world champ and 2018 Pans champion Gezary Matuda, as well as black belt veteran and Marianas Open champion Kristina Barlaan on her path to Worlds gold.

Monteiro's strengths lie her relentless cardio and passing ability. She's a strong proponent of the GF Team toreando passing combinations and is not afraid to wear her opponents down through a war of attrition.
