The match stayed on the feet for the first several minutes – neither man seemed eager to play the bottom game – and they instead chose to wrestle it out. At the five minute mark Travis jumped in for a flying scissor-leg takedown and briefly grabbed at a leg lock; Torregrosa quickly reversed the position and secured top position – but the damage had been done.
Though Torregrosa dominated top position, passed Magait's guard, and secured side control for the remaining four minutes of competition, he was not able to attack with any meaningful submission attempts. Attacks are the pivotal criteria at Fight To Win – and seeing as Magalit had arguably attempted more – he was declared the winner by the judges.
