Gianni Grippo In For IBJJF No-Gi Pans, Signs Up As Ultra-Heavyweight

Two-time Pan No-Gi champion at black belt, lightweight Gianni Grippo put the big boys on notice with a startling move – by registering for the +215lb weight class.

The New Jersey native, who trains out of Marcelo Garcia Jiu-Jitsu in New York, put his name alongside the likes of Gordon Ryan, Kaynan Duarte and Max Gimenis.

And while fans are already salivating over the prospect of seeing the technician play giant killer, the truth is that they’ve fallen for Grippo’s ruse.

“I’m just having some fun for now,” revealed Grippo, who wanted to remind people he’s going for his third straight Pan No-Gi title.

“No-Gi Pans is my territory. I’ll be doing lightweight, but be ready to see me in the open too.”
