A major showdown between two of jiu-jitsu's top no-gi grapplers has been signed with the announcement of Rocha vs Mendes.
Vagner Rocha vs Augusto "Tanquinho" Mendes is confirmed for Fight2Win 89 on Oct 12 in Miami. Mendes is ranked no.2 in the world at 66kg, while Rocha is no.4 at 77kg.
This match will be for the F2W Black Belt welterweight no-gi title. This was Garry Tonon's belt but he hasn't been able to defend it since directing his focus on MMA.
"Tonon can come back and challenge the winner if and when he's available," said Seth Daniels, CEO of F2W.
The match will be held under standard F2W black belt rules – all submissions allowed, one submission-only 10-minute round, judge's decision if no submission.
Tanquinho is a former F2W champion that had to relinquish his title due to contractual obligations. He returns for the first time since Fight2Win Pro 25, where he beat Jeff Glover (watch match).
Rocha vs Mendes will headline a show of over 25 submission-only superfights. Watch it LIVE or On Demand ONLY on FloGrappling.
