With the withdrawal of Michael Liera Jr. due to injury, a hungry new challenger has stepped up for a shot at Marcio Andre in a submission-only match. 

Matheus Gabriel of Checkmat is one of the new generation of featherweights to appear on the black belt scene, and he'll face off with the three-time European champion and World silver medalist Marcio Andre in the main event of Fight 2 Win 99. 

Gabriel trains in Dallas TX and was a standout brown belt competitor, both World and World No-Gi champion. He held three F2W title belts in three different divisions before he got his black belt: he won the 155lb gi purple belt title and held the 145lb brown belt titles in both gi and no-gi. 

Gabriel's first black belt match a huge challenge: he had to face Paulo Miyao on South Korean pro event Spyder, narrowly losing to the veteran technician 6-4. 

Stepping up to face Marcio Andre on less than a week's notice, Gabriel will look to continue his run of success on the Fight 2 Win stage.
