Following in the footsteps of his father Rickson Gracie, Kron has continued the legacy of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in MMA.
It took the jiu-jitsu black belt only ninety seconds to find the back of his opponent Alex Cacares and from there it was only a matter of time before Kron sunk in a rear naked choke for the victory. Official time of the victory was 2:06 of round one.
The win marked the first for a Gracie inside the octagon in 24 years. The last being Royce Gracie in 1994.
Gracie improves now to 5-0 and in what was a spectacular UFC debut, you'll have to expect him to move up in the rankings of the featherweight division rather quickly.
Kron Gracie is a welcome addition to jiu-jitsu specialist who have been dominating inside of the UFC and Bellator recently. Ryan Hall, Rafael Lovato Jr, Mackenzie Dern, Kron Gracie and more have all proved that high level jiu-jitsu is still one of the most effective tools to win with in MMA.
When asked about his thoughts on the choke the ice cool "Ice Cream" Kron had this to say to Jon Anik:
"This is what I do everyday, it's pretty basic for me. This is my first fight. Everybody else better watch their f’n neck. Oops, sorry!"
