Early Look: Key Names Set to Compete At 2019 Masters Worlds

We're just four short weeks away from the biggest masters event of the year: the IBJJF 2019 World Masters Championship!

The tournament serves as battlegrounds for some of our sports more storied athletes. 

  • Reigning Masters Champ and legendary competitor Megaton Dias in at Masters 5 lightweight. 
  • We'll also see Marcos Tinoco, a Brazilian National & European Champion join Vitor Olivera and Caio Almeida in the highly competitive Masters 1 middleweight division. 
  • Claudia Do Val, a 3x IBJJF black belt World Champion and 1x Masters World champ, is set to compete in the masters 1 middle-heavyweight division.
  • Some may remember Tiago Barros' absolutely savage performance at the World Championships back in June where he had one of the most thrilling matches of the year with Gabriel Sousa – he's also in Masters Worlds at light-feather. 
  • Other exciting female athletes to look out for include Kristina Barlaan, Heather Raftery, Tracey Goodell, Rita Gribben, Joanna Ziobronowicz, and Fabiana Borges.
