Marco Barbosa is a pioneer of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a pivotal figure in our sport.
Founder of Barbosa Jiu-Jitsu, many of today's leading coaches and athletes have received their black belts from the Barbosa Jiu-Jitsu, including but not limited to, Cicero Costha, Felipe Cesar Silva, and Luiz Panza.
Barbosa made the journey up to Vegas from Sao Paulo this weekend to throw down for the Masters 5 Lightweight title and looked absolutely phenomenal. He finished his first and final opponent with the confidence of a seasoned pro, but the real highlight of his road to gold was his stellar semi-final bout with Wellington 'Megaton' Dias.
The critical moment of that match occurred when MEgaton committed to a strong uchi mata attack that Barbosa beautiful countered to put the only two points on the board.
