How do you feel about being invited to Who’s #1?
I’m happy about this opportunity. It is without a doubt the biggest colored belt event in the history of bjj and I’ll be a part of it.
How did you get started in jiu-jitsu?
I started training jiu-jitsu because of my friends. There was a social project a few blocks away from my house, the rivalry with my friends made me keep training.
What do you like about competing?
Competition always makes me face my fears. I have always been scared of a great adrenaline rush, and being ready to overcome my fears motivates me.
What is your favorite thing about jiu-jitsu?
Jiu-jitsu was the tool that made a scared and loser type of kid into a confident champion.
How would you describe your style of jiu-jitsu? Do you have any favorite moves or a favorite guard?
My jiu-jitsu is explosive. Along with heart it’s the only thing you won’t miss in my fights. My favorite submission is the bow and arrow.
Who are some people who have influenced your jiu-jitsu and how?
I don’t have idols, my references are my friends and two of them who have influenced me the most are Isaque Bahiense and Nicholas Meregali.
Do you have any favorite athletes to watch compete?
I like the athletes that put on a show, both on and off the mat. Nicholas, Isaque, Gordon, Kaynan.

What are your goals for 2020?
Win absolutely everything. Every championship that I compete at. Also to keep developing myself as a human being.
What are your goals for your career?
What I like most about sports is breaking records, and without a doubt that is what I seek in jiu-jitsu.
What do you know about your opponent? What do you think about the matchup?
I have seen Tainan fight since juvenile, for me it was natural that eventually this fight would happen. I don’t like to talk about my opponents qualities or flaws, I prefer to keep it to myself. But without a doubt this is one of the best fights in the history of colored belts, the clash of different styles will provide a great battle.
