UPDATE March 13: Third Coast Grappling has been canceled
As the old saying states, "The show must go on!"
After taking precautionary measures against COVID-19 in restricting the event to Texas residents only, Third Coast Grappling remains committed to putting on a killer event.
The promotion is known for having one of the most unique rulesets (sub-only meets points, where 11 points scored counts as a sub), but for this event they are also including sub-only superfights, tag team matches, even a 3v1 format, all showcasing Texas talent.

Lucas Valentine became the Third Coast Grappling 170 lbs champion last year, and now he’ll defend his title against Pedro Rocha under the traditional, Third Coast rules.
Pedro has an extensive wrestling background, most recently winning Brazilian Nationals in wrestling last year. With Pedro’s wrestling-based style of jiu-jitsu and Lucas’ dangerous submission game from the guard, the clash of styles remains significant in the new match up.
Watch: Yurie Simoes Trains With Kody Steele and William Tackett
Always training together and supporting each other for their individual super fights and tournaments, the all-star "Texan Checkmat Trifecta," brothers William and Andrew Tackett and training partner Kody Steele, take on the Third Coast together in three different rulesets.
William Tackett faces Bruno Matias in a no time limit sub-only match as the co-main event. This will be his first-ever no-time limit match, but if his recent performances prove anything it’s that he’s up for the challenge, whatever the challenge is. Before getting promoted to brown belt William Tackett dominated purple-black belt 16-man bracket winning three of his four matches by way of submission. Time limit or not, William Tackett is a submission machine and will be looking for an early finish.

Kody Steele takes on Eduardo Avelar in the traditional Third Coast ruleset. The newly minted black belt has ADCC aspirations and is taking all the superfights in preparation. Most recently he took a win over Camron Couch at Kasai Pro 7. He’s got a mean takedown game and nothing-left-in-the-tank pace, because in addition to being an avid and successful competitor he wants to be the guy you want to watch.
“I want to be a showman on the mats and someone who pleases the crowd,” he said.
Having competed for the promotion before he’s also very familiar with the rulesets, which is a huge strategic advantage with such a unique format. He’ll be relentless in being the first to score eleven points or get the finish.
Watch: Meet All Three Tackett Brothers
The youngest of the “three amigos” is a teenage sensation, Andrew Tackett. “Just” a juvenile blue belt, Andrew is following the footsteps of other high-level juveniles and seeking out professional opportunities to test his jiu-jitsu at the highest level, against any rank.
This weekend he takes on a unique 3v1 challenge. At the most recent Jitzkingz event (where he finished second) he proved to be a submission machine, and exceedingly difficult to slow down, stuff, or subdue. This one is all for the fans as he accepted a shark tank match: three fresh opponents with only one minute to recover between the matches. If any of them sub him they’re taking home $1,500.
