13-time IBJJF world champion Marcus "Buchecha" Almeida call in to the WNO Podcast. He doesn't do many interviews, so it was great to get some insight into his training, career, and lifestyle.
Here are a few things that we learned from Buchecha in the 90-minute interview.
On Training With Leandro Lo
"Of course when we fight, it's never the same as training, because when we train it's even worse. People come to film us training, when we are done people say, 'Oh my god, what are you doing, you guys are gonna kill each other, you are going to get hurt.'"
On Competing Against Rodolfo Vieira
"People nowadays talk about pressure, they talk about pressure on Instagram, they don't know about pressure...Now we are friends and teach seminars together, he wants to show a move on me and I say, 'No, no, no.'"
On His Relationship With Leo Vieira
"One thing Leo always tells everybody is, 'You're never going to be remembered by the titles that you win, but the way that you fight.' So be exciting, be an exciting fighter, don't be a boring fighter... That's why my mentality is to go there and kill or die."
