IBJJF and ADCC champion Marcus Buchecha Almeida is set to hang up his gi and put on the gloves.

Arabic UFC commentator and reporter Mohamed Al-Housani interviewed Ali Abdelaziz of Dominance MMA management, who represents high-profile fighters such as UFC champions Khabib Nurmagomedov, Kamaru Usman, Henry Cejudo and many more.

And Abdelaziz revealed that though Buchecha will stop competing in the gi to focus on MMA, he will still be available to compete in no-gi and grappling matches.

Buchecha signaled his intent to compete in MMA back in 2015, and he was seen training at American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, CA. But a knee injury at the IBJJF Worlds took him out of action for 12 months and he shelved his plans until now.

Had Buchecha gone on to compete in the ADCC World Championship in August of 2015, there is a good chance he may have made his MMA debut shortly after. An MMA scout was known to be in attendance, and gold medalists Rodolfo Vieira and Gabi Garcia both made their MMA debuts shortly after the competition.

Buchecha has been seen training striking at the RVCA gym in Costa Mesa, California with noted boxing / MMA coach Jason Parillo.

We reached out to Buchecha who confirmed the deal with Dominance MMA, but could not confirm future plans about competing in BJJ or grappling.

And Abdelaziz has signed Rodolfo Vieira, too. Dominance MMA already counts notable grappler / MMA fighters Gilbert Durinho Burns, Fabricio Werdum, Neiman Gracie and Vinny Magalhaes as clients.
