With the sixth installment of the “Kumite” series under wraps, the Texas-based promotion will return to the superfight format. Third Coast Grappling 5 will feature some of the most notable athletes of 2020 from the gi and no-gi arenas.

In the main event, William Tackett will give up a weight advantage to challenge Fellipe Andrew in a no-gi showdown. Tackett has been on the rise all year, but could be tested by Fellipe Andrew’s explosive, submission-heavy game. In an earlier appearance at Third Coast Grappling: Kumite IV: Andrew submitted Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa in the opening round.

In the co-main event, Thiago Macedo will face Johnny Tama in the gi. Tama will have a weight advantage in this matchup, but Macedo is on a hot streak. Most recently, Macedo had a career-best performance by winning the 2020 IBJJF Pan Championship.

Earlier in the night, John Combs will face Pedro Marinho in a no-gi bout, and Kody Steele will take on Edwin Najmi.
