Gilbert Burns (19-3-0), a former IBJJF Gi and No-Gi World Champion, is set to challenge Kamaru Usman (17-1-0) for the UFC Welterweight title on Feb. 13 at UFC 258. The matchup is a classic pairing of grappling styles: Usman the elite level wrestler and Burns with his world-class jiu-jitsu. 

Usman is currently undefeated in the UFC with 12 straight victories and two successful title defenses; the 'Nigerian Nightmare' most recently defeated Jorge Masvidal at UFC 251 on July 12 last year.    

Meanwhile, Burns made his case for a title fight by racking up six straight wins, including the first-round knockout of Demain Maia, POTN against Tyrone Woodley, and a decision victory over Gunnar Nelson. 

Formerly training partners at Sanford MMA, Usman decided to move his camp to Denver, CO to train under Trevor Whitman.  

Fans can expect a wrestling-heavy match, specifically clinching and cagework, as Usman has been known to grind down his opponents with his stand-up grappling, but the threat of a kockout on the feet or submission on the ground from Burns certainly creates an intersting dynamic for the bout.

However,  Gilbert Burns isn’t the only competitor with World Class jiu-jitsu on the card, Rodolfo Vieira (7-0-0) is set to fight in the UFC for the third time against Anthony Hernandez (7-2-1). 

A multiple-time IBJJF World Champ and ADCC Champion, Vieira is undefeated Since making his MMA debut on February 10, 2017. Since then he has finished all seven of his opponents, six via submission and one via TKO. Only two of his opponents have managed to make it out of the first round, and only one survived until the third round.
