PSA: Stop what you’re doing and watch the above highlight video of Ethan Crelinstein and Kade Ruotolo’s first match held back at  FloGrappling WNO: Gordon Ryan vs Kyle Boehm back in April 2020.

It’s over TEN minutes of non-stop action, with neither competitor willing to give an inch throughout.

With that said, Crelinsten arguably had the upper hand in the eyes of most fans, and many watching were shocked to see that Ruotolo was given the win via the judge's decision (including myself and Hywel at the commentary desk).

Though it wasn’t the only consideration for the change, this match, in particular, led us at FloGrappling to develop new scoring criteria specific to our WNO event.

In short, our judges now holistically review a match without giving priority to one particular aspect of jiu-jitsu - see the full breakdown of WNO rules here.

This is no criticism of Ruotolo: the Atos representative put on a phenomenal show, but he himself was openly dissatisfied with his performance, believing that he could do so much more and earn a significantly more decisive victory should the two meet again. Hear his full thoughts on the match below.

Craig Jones vs Tye Ruotolo: The Perfect Time To Run It Back

We always knew this match had to happen again. The first time around was simply too much fun, and given the unsatisfactory conclusion,  we wanted to give each competitor another crack at a decisive win.

Kade Ruotolo had this to say about the upcoming bout going down on April 30.

"'Be happy but never satisfied'- Bruce Lee

Even though I came away with the win in my last match against Ethan, I feel as if I didn’t compete anywhere near to my full potential. I wasn’t satisfied with my performance so with that being said I look forward to running it back with him. I think it will be a great match and I’ll be looking for the finish. -Kade Ruotolo
