Fight to Win returns to Dallas, TX on Saturday, April 10, spearheaded by two premiere black belt no-gi matches. In the main event of Fight to Win 169, Kennedy Maciel will defend his 155 lb no-gi title against the rookie, Joshua Cisneros. In the co-main event, two ADCC veterans will collide as Oliver Taza takes on Gabriel Almeida.

Kennedy Maciel is nearly unbeatable in no-gi rulesets. He’s a no-gi world champion, and an ADCC silver medalist. His 19-3 in no-gi matches since receiving his black belt in 2018. Two of those losses came in open weight brackets, while the third was in the ADCC final against Augusto Mendes.

His opponent, Joshua Cisneros, has proven to be something of a disruptor in his fresh black belt career. He won Pans in 2020, taking out the division favorite, Paulo Miyao, in the quarter final. He’s gone 10-1 since his black belt debut, but has not yet completed in no-gi since earning the rank.

However, Cisneros teased last month that his no-gi game is better than his gi game. And if that holds true, Cisneros could have another breakthrough against Maciel, the no.1-ranked lightweight. Maciel’s blend of steady pressure and explosive movement is a test for any opponent, but it’s also an opportunity for Cisneros to prove that he can hang with the best in the world, gi or no-gi.

Fight to Win 169 starts on Apr 10, 2021 at 5 p.m. ET.
