Meet The Athletes On The Free WNO: Craig Jones vs Luiz Panza Undercard

FloGrappling’s Who’s Number One: Craig Jones vs Luiz Panza is loaded with talented and exciting grapplers from the main event all the way down to the first match of the night. Before the six-match main card begins on FloGrappling, six rising stars will square off in three free prelim matches on the undercard.

The undercard will be streamed live for free on FloGrappling’s Facebook and YouTube channels, beginning at 8 p.m. ET, and will include several young WNO veterans hoping to set the tone for the night in their no-gi matches scheduled for 15-minutes each under the WNO ruleset.

The feature match of the undercard features two teenage talents who have been steadily picking up steam since their blue belt days. The 18-year old Andrew Tackett will face 17-year old Micael Galvao. The Brazilian-born Galvao recently returned to the US, to compete at the IBJJF No-Gi Pans, and there he looked stellar. He won his first three matches via submission before winning his final by advantage. Galvao is one of the most exciting young talents out of Brazil, and he’s developed a reputation for beating and submitting black belts since he was just 14-years old.

Tackett, the younger brother of William Tackett has built a similar reputation over the last few years. The purple belt has victories over several brown and black belts since 2020. He’s done it with exceptional technique, but he’s become best known for his relentless pace. In his most recent WNO outing, Tackett haunted the heavier brown belt, Sean Yadimarco with his pace in a one-sided beating.

The collision between these two seems destined, and it’s available for free on Friday, May 28.

Before that, Art Of Jiu-Jitsu’s teenage phenom, Cole Abate will return to the WNO mats for the third time, this time against Pedigo Submission Fighting’s Sathya Wiltse.

Abate now has two submission victories on WNO, and he’s built on those with heaps of submission wins in IBJJF events. The 16-year old blue belt is one of the most highly-touted products of the AOJ camp, but he’ll have a challenge from the Daisy Fresh brown belt, Bird Wiltse. Wiltse has a devastating ankle lock, and a tricky guard game built around it. That could cause problems for Abate’s pass-heavy style. This matchup should be equal parts technical problem solving and dynamic movement.

The earliest preliminary match of the evening will be another installment of the years-long rivalry between the Danaher Death Squad and 10th Planet. DDS’s purple belt Damien Anderson will take on 10th Planet borwn belt Luis Quinones to start the event. Anderson is a forward-fighting submission hunter, and he has unstoppable cardio. He proved it last year in a 50-minute match against Andrew Tackett. He’s up for a challenge in Quinones, who recently submitted Anderson’s teammate, Frank Rosenthal with his signature thunder lock
