Spencer Pratt, Jiu-Jitsu’s Unsung Celebrity Ambassador

Jiu-Jitsu’s Unsung Celebrity Ambassador

As a reality TV star with over 1 million followers on Twitter, another 212,000 on Instagram, and tens of thousands on Snapchat, Spencer Pratt knows a thing or two about being in the spotlight.

From his breakout on MTV’s "The Hills" in the 2000s to a two-time stint on "Celebrity Big Brother," Pratt and his wife, Heidi Montag, (affectionately known in the media as "Speidi") are two of the most adorable and entertaining celebs to follow on social media.

nullWhen he’s not feeding humming birds or brewing espresso, Pratt can often be seen training jiu-jitsu. He’s a brown belt under Ricardo "Franjinha" Miller of Paragon (pictured right), the respected coach who promoted Jeff Glover and Bill Cooper to black belt.

In recent weeks, Pratt has posted lengthy stories on his Snapchat and Instagram of him training with Hunter Ewald in Hawaii and of his regular weekly one-to-one sessions with Edwin Najmi.

Pratt's 34th birthday was on Monday, and he celebrated it like all good jiu-jitsu fanatics -- on the mat!

There are many celebrities who train jiu-jitsu, but nobody opens up their time on the mat like Pratt. He also competes, and we've seen him in action at Masters Worlds and the 2016 LA Grand Slam.

Enjoy this highlight video of his session with Najmi in Pratt's private home gym (which is pretty kickass, by the way). Go follow him on Instagram for plenty more.
