Tammi Musumeci's New Competition Mindset: Relieves Pressure By Having Fun
Atos Jiu-Jitsu black belt Tammi Musumeci has made no secret about the issues she’s faced as a competitor, but she believes her new mindset will help her deal with the pressure this weekend and help her perform better than ever.
“I’ve changed my mindset on competing over the last year. I’ve been focusing more on enjoying it and having fun.
“I train super hard and I find that helps me train even harder. When you enjoy something, you want to do it even better. So I’m looking forward to having a lot of fun this weekend.
“My philosophy is, and I tell this to a lot of people, you do something because you love it. No matter the result, you’re going to go out, do your best and have fun with it.
“I do put pressure on myself, in everything I do. Like in school, if I didn’t get an A I would be really down on myself. I think it’s just my mentality. I feel like if I’m being given this opportunity I should take advantage of it.
“My whole mindset this weekend is to go have fun and try my best. I know I’m very skilled, I know I train super hard, I know I put the time and effort into it, I made sure I’m in top shape. Ii really put a lot of work into it.
“But I want to go in there and enjoy it as well, enjoy the experience. Because not many poeple will get to experience what I will tomorrow and Sunday.”
