While Preparing For MMA Debut; Mackenzie Dern Wins Her Second World Championship Title

Mackenzie Dern had a HUGE week!

Last Thursday at the 2016 IBJJF Award Ceremony the Gracie Humaita star recieved $15k for her #1 ranking from the 2015-2016 competition season. A ranking Mackenzie earn through spectacular performances at 2015 No-Gi Worlds, 2016 European Championships, & the 2016 Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championships.

Following up just a few day later at the 2016 World Championships, Mackenzie Dern earned her second World Championship gold when she beat Michelle Nicolini in the Featherweight final. Immediately after the fight we caught up with the 2x World Champion to see how she felt, check out the interview above!

They say it's harder to keep your titles because everyone is coming after you. Everyone has that drive to be the champion. I was really hoping to get my second title at black belt and I knew it would be a war with Michelle. I knew she would give everything but I'm so excited to have gotten the gold medal.
