Romulo Barral To Compete At Middleweight For First Time In 14 Years!
Gracie Barra black belt Romulo Barral shocked us when he signed up for Pans at middleweight. He's fought almost his entire career at medium heavyweight, and he explains that it was a challenge from Gabriel Arges that motivated him to drop down a category!
Training is going great. I need to follow in my students’ footsteps, they’ve been killing the game. They motivate me to keep training hard, and they keep me in good shape.
I decided to compete at Pans, and I got challenged my Gabriel [Arges], he told me I couldn’t make middleweight. If it doesn’t challenge you it doesn’t change you.
It’s been diet, eating clean. It motivated me to go back on diet, I was too comfortable eating barbecue almost every day, eating whatever I want.
Pans was around the corner, I just decided one day before the registration closed. Tomorrow I’m going to have one tough training, next week is pretty much just break a sweat, don’t get injured.
The last time I competed middleweight was in 2003 – quite a while ago, right? It’s just a different challenge, Compete against different guys and see what’s up.
