Isaac Doderlein's pragmatic approach to addressing a loss is a learning opportunity for us all.

The Alliance black belt came within mere inches of finally besting long-time rival Paulo Miyao in the Abu Dhabi World Pro 69kg final last weekend, but saw his lead slip away after a controversial penalty was called.

The sequence in question started Miyao initiated a sweep sequence that saw the pair land out of bounds.  The referee's ruled that Doderlein had fled that mat intentionally, awarding Miyao two points and assigning a penalty point to the American.

Obviously, Doderlein was not thrilled by the ruling and made sure to air his case during this interview.

But perhaps more interesting was the attitude and approach the Alliance representative took to addressing the loss and evaluating his performance. It's not the first time Doederlein has had victory denied by Paulo, and each time he takes the loss as a learning opportunity – be sure to watch the entire interview to find out the strategies Doederlein employs to improve his game.
