Matheus Gabriel went into the 2019 IBJJF Pans with only seven black belt matches to his name. The Checkmat rep went home champion. 

The Manaus-born athlete had a standout rookie year at black belt winning both the Pans and World Championships, the latter via a stunning submission in the final. 

Matheus will return to action at the 2020 IBJJF Pans and will look to add a second title to his collection– relive the action from last year in anticipation of the upcoming Pans, which takes place on Mar 18*-22.
