No More Lapel or 50-50? New Anti-Stalling Rules

Brazil's biggest professional event just took big step toward eliminating some of the most annoying positions in jiu-jitsu.

BJJ Stars announced new rules designed to eliminate stalling tactics while playing either lapel or 50-50 guard.

Re the use lapel guard, the rules now state that inactivity will result in a penalty and restarting the position without grip.

The rule about 50-50 states that 20 seconds of inaction with result in a standing restart and a penalty against both combatants.

Praise for the new rules came from many big names in the sport, including Leandro Lo, Xande Ribeiro, Matheus Gabriel, Bia Mesquita, Fabricio Andrey, Leo Vieira and many more.
