In a testament to her recent dedication and commitment to martial arts, she has been promoted to the rank of purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by the Valente brothers, Pedro, Gui, and Joaquim.

Known for its emphasis on leverage, technique, and Submission holds, BJJ is a grappling discipline that originates in Büdchen's native Brazil - with roots in judo before that. Bündchen trains with her children, who were also promoted in rank, at their Miami academy. Brazilian jiu-jitsu is commonly practiced by families together.

For Bündchen, attaining the purple belt represents an acknowledgment of her hard work, perseverance, and dedication to mastering this intricate martial art. The purple belt is the third of five belts in BJJ, with the black belt being the highest rank (with further grades possible within black belt).
