Road To Gold: Takeshiro 'Samurai' Tanino Conquers Euros Open Class Gold
Takeshiro 'Samurai' Tanino of Atos conquered the Purple Belt Open Class Gold medal at the IBJJF 2023 European Championships!
After taking third place in the Purple Belt Medium-Heavyweight division, Takeshiro made his way to the Open Class division where he secured three points victories in order take 1st place. Takeshiro's guard-passing, take-downs and take-down defense were on full display throughout his open class run. Here is a match-by-match breakdown of Samurai's run through the Open Class:
Round One
After a first round BYE in the Open Class division, Takeshiro maximized his opportunities to pass his opponent's guard and secure a 14-point victory:
Round Two (Quarter-Finals)
In a tightly contested Quarter-Finals match, Takeshiro was able to secure points from a sweep and defend multiple take-down attempts in the final minutes of the match:
