Nicholas Meregali and newfound rival Kaynan Duarte are set square off in the no-gi main event of Tezos WNO 19 on August 10 at the Palmer Event Center in Austin, TX.

Duarte and Meregali have been chirping at each other since the lead up to the 2022 ADCC World Championships. In an interview on his lead up to ADCC, Meregali said nobody in the 99kg division could match his level, taking a particular shot at 2019 ADCC 99+ kg champ Kaynan Duarte.

Duarte went on to win the 99kg division in 2022, where Meregali took third in that category and second in the absolute. 

After his win, Duarte responded to Meregali, challenging him to a match on WNO. Nearly one year later, that match is now set.

Duarte is 3-1 on Tezos WNO. He made his first appears after in December 2020, defeating jiu-jitsu legend and UFC star Rodolfo Vieira via rear naked choke in lightning time. He took second place at the 2021 WNO Championship, winning two matches before falling in the final. 

Meregali is 3-0 in no-gi bouts on WNO. He earned back to back submission victories in his first two career no-gi matches while on the WNO mats, then defeated Rafael Lovato Jr. via unanimous decision. 

Meregali is coming off a submission victory in the gi against Pedro Marinho in his most recent bout at Tezos WNO 18.
