The IBJJF has announced that it will host a new premier event The IBJJF Crown Presented By FloGrappling, a gi competition where athletes in four men's and two women''s divisions compete for glory, bragging rights, and prize money.

The four divisions will each feature four athletes in 2023, and expand to eight in 2024 and beyond. The participants will be decided by the IBJJF, with their aim being to feature the best and most exciting athletes who are active on the competition scene.

  • Men
    • Featherweight, 70kg/154.6lbs
    • Middleweight, 82.30kg/181.6lbs
    • Heavyweight, 94.30kg/208lbs
    • Super Heavyweight, Unlimited
  • Women
    • Lightweight, 64kg/141.6lbs
    • Ultra Heavyweight, Unlimited

Each champion will receive $15,000 and the event in total will be giving out over $120k in total prize money - a record for the IBJJF. Each champion will also have an undeniable claim to being one of the top few pound-for-pound gi athletes on the planet.

The consolidation of weight classes will mean we are likely to see new pairings, champions against champions, and unlikely stylistic matchups. On November 19th, all of the action will be streamed live on FloGrappling, as we see who will be crowned.
