Fast times, fast performances and top marks from Florida High Schools will go down over the next four days in Jacksonville as the FHSAA State Outdoor Championships unwind across four days at the University of North Florida.

There's no better time in the season.

What can you expect over that stretch? We'll have updates from the state championships each day as things progress from Class 1A to Class 2A, Class 3A and Class 4A, which concludes on Saturday.

The state championships got underway on Wednesday in Class 1A at Hodges Stadium.

Here were the top moments.

ECS Sprinter McKenzie Travis Secured The Sprint Triple

In her last outing in a Fort Myers Evangelical Christian School uniform, Travis didn't leave anything on the track.

The University of South Carolina signee won the 100m, 200m and 400m over two hours, sealing one of the best performances in Florida history in the process.

Travis opened with a wind-legal 11.65 in a negative head-wind (-2.1), followed with a time of 55.06 in the 400m and finished in a blur, sealing her three state titles with a time of 24.05 in the 200m -- she also ran the 4x400 to finish out the night, though ECS did not finish inside the top eight placements.

It represented a huge moment for Travis, who was unable to compete at the state championships due to injury in 2023. She failed to win a title as a sophomore, coming home with a runner-up finish in the 100m in 2022.

Since then, however, Travis has transformed into one of the best sprinters in the U.S. She clocked a U.S. No. 5 time of 11.43 in the 100m in March at the Florida Relays and added a wind-legal career-best of 23.82 in the 200m at regionals last week.

Madeleine Gear Pulls Away For Elite Time And Win In The 1,600m

Gear successful defended her 1,600m title on Wednesday in the Class 1A final, then added another tally to her name in the 800m.

The only difference? She did it with a new team.

After transferring to Foundation Christian Academy from Cambridge Academy this fall, Gear pushed forward, finding career form as she clocked personal records of 2:10.40 and 4:49.46 along the way.

"The plan was just to go for the win," Gear said. "I wasn't worried about time ...I just let them take it out, have fun with it and bring it home over the last 300 meters."

On Wednesday, there was no debate. Gear -- the cousin of HOKA Naz Elite professional Krissy Gear -- was the top middle-distance runner in Florida's small school classification, netting her 1,600m win by seven seconds and finding redemption after losing the indoor state title in February.

The future University of Arkansas runner will likely continue her season on the national stage.

Palmer Trinity's Henry Stark Pulls Down The Distance Double

Landing the distance double on Wednesday, Henry Stark clocked times of 4:16.76 and 9:18.02, respectively.

Maybe more impressive was the fact that Stark accomplished the feat less than two hours between races, closing his state championships with the eight-lap race.

Stark, however, pulled away late, beating Indian Rocks Christian's Jonah Berry by nine seconds.
