Get caught up to speed with all of the brackets for the Ocean BJJ Pro Championship in Sardinia, Italy!
The Ocean BJJ Pro Championship features two male brackets, -80kg and +80kg, and two female brackets of qualifier winners.
The -80kg bracket features sixteen regional grapplers who have won qualifiers to earn their spot in the championship final, but is then topped off with four grappling pros to round out the bracket. Here is a look at the full bracket:
In addition to the qualifier winners, Tarik Hopstock and Espen Mathiesen will be on the same side of the bracket and Fabyury Khrysthyan and Marcin Held will be on the opposite side. If I had to pick a darkhorse in this bracket it would have to be Pawel Jaworski. Jaworski is an up and coming Polish grappling that trains at Academia Gorila with Mateusz Szczeciński and crew. He will be competing in both the lightweight and heavyweight brackets, but the lightweight bracket is much more favorable for him to make a potential run.
In the +80kg bracket there will be thirteen regional grapplers and then four established names to round out the division. Here is the full bracket:
In the heavyweight bracket we will see Sebastian Rodriguez and Manuel Pilato on the same side and then Luccas Lira and Tommy Langaker will be on the opposite side. It is hard for me to bet against the favorites in this bracket. I very well think we could see the semifinals consist of the four most notable names in the bracket.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! The fun doesn't stop with the men's brackets. There are two female divisions to decide a women's lightweight and heavyweight champion.
Here is the women's lightweight bracket:
And here is the women's heavyweight bracket:
Both brackets will feature four regional grapplers who are faced with an excellent opportunity to put their jiu-jitsu on display to the world!
