WNO 26 features some of the world's top grapplers, and that certainly includes Diego Pato.

Anyone unaware of WNO should expect nothing less than fun, quick and intense matches and multiple submission victories. And the biggest match on the card is the main event between Diego Pato and Keith Krikorian, two of the best in the world.

For any fans of submission grappling in the Southern California area, tickets are available now - don't miss your chance to catch another historic WNO with matches sure to deliver fireworks.

Here are five things to know about Diego Pato ahead of the big matchup.

1. Pato Is A WNO Double Champion

  • On Feb. 9th last year, Diego Pato became the WNO double champion after submitting Dante Leon at WNO 22.
  • Pato is the first-ever double champion in the promotion's history with the win.
  • During the run as double champ, Pato won all five of his title defense matches, all by submission.

2. He Has 56 Submissions Out Of 138 Wins

  • The young prodigy has been dominant, having an overall record of 142-20 in all the promotions he has competed in.
  • A big thing to note about the submissions is how he taps out opponents in various ways. He has 12 chokeholds, six ankle locks, four inside heel hooks, and armbar victories, responsible for 26 of the 56 submissions.
  • 40.5 percent of Pato's wins come from forcing his opponents to beg for mercy.

3. Diego Pato Is A 3-Time IBJJF Worlds Champion

  • For the last four years, Pato has also been very successful at the IBJJF level, one of the federation's grand slam tournaments, the IBJJF Worlds; he has taken home the gold many times over the years.
  • In 2021 and 2023, the grappler won gold in both the Worlds and No-Gi Worlds and also won gold in Worlds this past year.
  • Throughout the years, he has also won gold in the IBJJF Pan and Crown championships, such as Gi and No-Gi.

4. 2024 Was Arguably His Breakout Year

  • Last year was the best of Pato's young career, as the 25-year-old won many golds and championships while making it look easy the whole time.
  • Throughout the year, Pato fought 30 matches and lost only three of them.
  • He finished the year by winning his last four fights, three of which ultimately led to winning at the 2024 IBJJF Crown.

5. Pato Won The First Matchup Against Kirkorian

  • WNO 26 on Feb. 7 will not be the first time Diego Pato and Keith Krikorian will face off against each other.
  • In 2022, the two competed in the first round of the ADCC with a straight ankle lock.
  • Although there is much more at stake with this bout being for the WNO Lightweight Championship, knowing that he owns a win or Kirkorian previously could be all the momentum Pato needs to do it again and successfully retain his title.
