Izaak Michell and Gabriel Almeida are the two newest athletes to join the BJJ Stars 15 Grand Prix
The BJJ Stars 15 Grand Prix keeps growing, with now seven of the eight competitors announced for the major no-gi tournament going down soon. The two newest entrants - Gabriel Almeida and Izaak Michell, two world class veterans who will bring intensity and action to the mats. The tournament goes down as part of the Sao Paulo-based super fight series on April 26th, airing exclusively on FloGrappling (outside of Brazil, where it's available on pay-per-view).
The Grand Prix will be eight of the best in the world at -83kg/183lbs meeting in a one night tournament under ADCC rules, including a no-points period & overtimes.
Izaak Michell broke out as the winner of FloGrappling's Who's Next, a submission-only tournament packed with up-and-coming stars. Since, he's made several ADCC appearances and really developed into one of grappling's best wrestlers by working with the athletes at Penn State University.
Gabriel Almeida is a veteran of the game who has competed at the highest levels of the sport for years and now gets his shot to reestablish himself as one of the top guys in the game with a big performance here. His powerful submission style was on full display last year at the South American Trials where he dominated the field.
BJJ Stars will also feature several key matchups between top pound-for-pound talent, including Diogo Reis vs Meyram Maquine, Tayane Porfirio vs Gabi Pesssanha, and Erich Munis vs Adam Wardzinski. Expect a few more major matchups to be announced in the coming days as this historic card continues to fill up.
