At the 2025 IBJJF Brazilian National Championship, also known as IBJJF Brasileiro, nearly a dozen athletes will fight for the Women’s Medium Heavyweight black belt title, and fans can watch all the action unfold live on FloGrappling.

Brasileiro is one of four Grand Slam events hosted each year by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and this one will bring more than 7,000 competitors to the Ginásio Poliesportivo José Correa (José Correa Multi-Sport Gymnasium) from April 26-May 4.

Competitors are placed into divisions based on their ages and belt colors – white, blue, purple, brown and black – while each category features nine weight classes.

Each category at the event certainly will have its share of drama and storylines, but it traditionally is the top tier, the black belts, garnering much of the attention and discussion.

Since entries for the event already closed, we have a good idea about many of the top competitors for whom to watch out, and that includes a handful of athletes ranked at the top of their respective weight classes in the latest official FloGrappling rankings.

Among the black belts headed to Brazil to compete in the Women’s Medium Heavyweight division are five of the top 10 fighters in the Female Gi Rankings – No. 4 Ingridd Alves (Brazil), No. 5 Maria Carolina Vincenti (Brazil), No. 6 Aurélie Le Vern (French Guiana), No. 7 Sabatha Lais (Brazil) and No. 13 Nia Blackman (Great Britain).

As of April 15, there are 11 women set to fight in this category:

    • Gladys Regina dos Santos
    • Maria Carolina Barón Vicentini
    • Bruna Chater Ramez Farah
    • Magdalena Zofia Loska
    • Natasha Larissa Inácio dos Santos
    • Ingridd Alves de Sousa
    • Giovanna Xavier Carneiro
    • Sábatha Laís Francisco dos Santos
    • Mariana Aparecida Lira Machado
    • Nia Vivienne Blackman
    • Aurélie Le Vern

The Women’s Medium Heavyweight champion in 2024 was Sábatha Laís, who defeated Thamara Ferreira Silva. Alves and Vicentini also were semifinalists in 2024.
