BJJ Stars Middleweight No-Gi GP Results

Mica Galvão def Roberto Jimenez via armbar (2:35) | No-Gi GP Final

Roberto got in on a double leg early and took Mica down, but right into a tight armlock. Roberto escaped and assumed top position.

As Roberto moved side to side, Mica found an entry for an arm crush. Roberto tried to scramble out, giving way to a belly down armbar. Roberto continued scrambling, but the lock only got deeper, and Roberto was forced to tap.

Roberto Jimenez vs Oliver Taza via points (3-0) | No-Gi GP Semifinal

An early footsweep attempt from Roberto tempted Taza to start shadow boxing. Roberto made his own gestured and walked into a rolling leg lock attempt from Taza. Roberto escaped, momentarily attempting a kneebar before assuming top position in reverse half guard.

Jimenez continued with the pressure, and, as points went into effect, he briefly passed the guard. But Roberto didn't wait long enough to secure points, instead chasing the back. A scramble ensued and Taza put Roberto in reverse closed guard, spamming footlock attempts from there. When Roberto locked his legs around Taza, action stopped completely.

Roberto finally unlocked in attempt to escape the position, and left his leg behind for Taza to attack. When he escaped the lock, he passed the guard directly to the back, where he scored with less than a minute remaining.

Mica Galvão def Elijah Dorsey via decision | No-Gi GP Semifinal

The match endured for nearly three minutes on the feet before Mica jumped to closed guard and began to climb for a triangle. Dorsey created the necessary distance, escaping the attack and assuming top position momentarily. But just before points went into effect, Mica returned to his feet.

With less than three minutes remaining, Mica sat to guard. He threw up an omoplata attack, but as Dorsey escaped, he picked up the pace, coming extremely close to a pass before Mica recovered. The pair returned to their feet once more.

Oliver Taza def Jonnatas Gracie via decision | No-Gi GP Quarterfinal

Taza initially pulled, but returned to his feet to encounter the aggressive wrestling of Gracie, who quickly attained top position and a leg drag. While under siege of the passing attempt, Taza tied up Gracie's legs and recovered to guard.

Gracie cycled to a body lock pass, but overcommitted and found himself beneath Taza. The change of position was brief, as Gracie returned to his feet and the match resumed standing and points came into effect.

Taza took a series of deep shots, but the third landed him in a front headlock, where Gracie secured the top position, momentarily attacking the neck before searching for the pass.

Taza nearly reversed the position as Gracie pushed for the pass, then secured closed guard. Gracie worked in the closed guard with his head down, and Taza appeared to egg on the crowd or the referees to punish Gracie for stalling.

The match ended there with no score on the board. The referees awarded the victory to Taza.

Elijah Dorsey def Rafael Paganini via points (3-0) | No-Gi GP Quarterfinal

Paganini pulled to guard early, prompting passing and leg lock attempts from Dorsey. Paganini tried to attack legs via single leg X-guard, but Dorsey continued to change ranges, passing outside with toreandos and then closing the distance with knee cuts.

As time waned, Dorsey forced half guard, continuing to work his passing game; and with six seconds remaining in the match, he secured the pass to mount for the go-ahed points and the win.

Roberto Jimenez def Izaak Michell via decision | No-Gi GP Quarterfinal

Roberto opened in his trademark style, searching for a flying attack. As the two returned to their feet, Izaak worked for a kneetap. Although he put Roberto down, the Ecuadorian bounced back to his feet. Roberto scored a takedown as the action went off the mat, but Izaak returned to his feet off the reset.

Roberto attempted a lat drop toward the edge of bounds, leading to a wild scramble which nearly trampled media staff and mat-side VIPs, but the match again returned to center mat.

Izaak got deep on a single leg, but Roberto spun out and got behind his opponent, delivering the Australian to the mat with a huge suplex just before time expired. The scoreboard was tied at zero, but Roberto picked up the victory for his aggression.

Mica Galvão def Jon Blank via points (3-0) | No-Gi GP Quarterfinal

Blank was quick to pull guard, putting forward pressure from seated as Galvão circled, looking to jump passed Blank's dangerous butterfly attacks. Blank's aggressive attempt to force a half guard created an opening for Mica to jump past the guard into side control.

Shortly after points went into effect in this ADCC rules match, Blank recovered guard. Mica passed again, smashing Blank's legs to the sides then hopping over the guard and moving directly to mount for three points.

Blank recovered again with less than a minute remaining in the bout, and with 20 seconds left Mica jumped on a guillotine. Blank escaped, but Mica secured the victory.

BJJ Stars 15 Superfight Results

BJJ Stars Absolute Title Fight | Erich Munis def Adam Wardzinski via points (8-2)

Munis scored an early advantage for coming up off of a double guard pull and immediately angled on a guard pass. He nearly scored, but Adam turtled and gave his back. Munis opted for an armbar, but Adam escaped and got to top.

With Munis up by two advantages on bottom, he tied Adam up in his long range guards, using off-balances to keep Adam stuck. When Munis established a lapel grip, he satt Adam to his hips and scored a sweep.

Wardzinski tried to work his foot sweep game from the sit up guard, but couldn't maintian control of Erich's long legs. He resorted to longer-range guards, but Erich nearly passed again. He sat back strategically, without giving up points, then hit a magnificent overhead sweep to mount to increase his lead to eight.

Wardzinski recovered to single leg X-guard and swept to top position with less than a minute remaining, but couldn't get past Munis' long guard.

BJJ Stars Female Heavyweight Title Fight | Gabrielli Pessanha (c) def Tayane Porfirio via collar choke (4:54)

Tayane opened with a determined pace, pressuring Gabi toward the edge of the mat. After a minute on the feet, Gabi pulled guard and threw up a triangle. Pessanha released the lock against strong posturing from Porfirio, but — after a moment of pummeling — transfered to an omoplata and swept to top position in a scramble.

A leg lock shootout ensued, Porfirio on a toe hold and Pessanha on an ankle lock. Pessanha re-established top position and Porfirio turtled up, appearing frustrated. Pessanha continued attacking, taking the back and working a collar choke from the belly down position, where she got the submission.

Meyram Maquine def Diogo Reis via points (11-0)

Meyram dove to guard after a failed takedown attempt, and used a technical single leg X sweep to attain top position for two points. Diogo took his turn at single leg X-guard, using the lapel to tie Meyram up, converting momentarily to 50-50. Meyram made distance and escaped the position, then turned onthe jets with a flurry of passing attempts which eventually landed him in side control for three more points.

Diogo escaped directly into backside 50-50 and spun beneath his opponent for a deep kneebar attempt, earning an advantage then jumping onto a toe hold for another.

Upon escape, Meyram went right back to his dynamic style and passed the guard again to pad his lead.

Maquine recieved a penalty for passivity from side control with about a minute remaining on the clock, and the match returned momentarily to standing. Diogo pulled guard, clearly looking for another leg attack, but that gave way to a third pass for Maquine, who advanced his lead to 11 points as time expired.

Leonardo Ferreira def Hygor Brito via advantages (2-0)

Brito pulled guard, but lost his grips, and gave up a leg drag to Ferreira. Ferreira didn't settle for the pass, instead opting for an acrobatic dive to back control. The Alliance athlete never secured the points, but he secured an advantage for the effort and, returning to his passing game, went right back on the offensive.

Another passing threat forced Brito to turtle, awarding Ferreira another advantage. Brito's flexibility saved him from several following passing attacks, but the pace belonged to Ferriera, pressuring the guard player through weight and movement.

Ferreira made another attempt at a diving back take, where Brito found his first legitimage guard of the match: 50-50. But, down by only two advantages, Brito couldn't make the most of the scoring opportunity, and the clock ticked to zero.

After the match, BJJ Stars proposed a match between Ferreira and jiu-jitsu hall of famer Xande Ribeiro. The two faced off on the mat.

Angelus França def Weverton Martins via points (3-0) | Blue Belt Prelim

Alliance's Weverton Martins opened with technically precise passing pressure, first via legdrag, then with explosive movement passing. The second passing attempt forced França to turtle, where he wrestled up to top position but did not earn points.

França, down by an advantage, managed to pass the guard with less than a minute remaining and jumped on an armlock. Though he didn't finish the submission, he put himself ahead on the scoreboard and back into his guard to top position to secure the victory.
