What's Happening In Jiu-Jitsu

-We have our final team for CJI 2, as it was announced this week Pedigo Submission Fighting will be the 8th squad. It's expected their team will be some version of:

• -66kg: Max Hanson (or a wildcard or Jakob Brooks, this is pretty light for Max)
• -77kg: Dante Leon
• -88kg: Jacob Couch
• -99kg: Michael Pixley
• +99kg: Brandon Reed

-UFC announced the launch of their UFC BJJ brand, an expansion of their investment in the sport. They also announced their reality show, which has already wrapped filming, set to feature coaches Mikey Musumeci & Rerisson Gabriel. Rerisson won Pans this year in the gi.

-The reality show will be two eight man brackets, one at 155lbs and one at 170lbs. The winner of each bracket will become UFC BJJ Champion at that weight class. The grapplers will be:

-UFC BJJ also announced their matches will happen in a pit. Craig Jones has been hinting at taking legal action considering he owns the patent (and opposes their exclusive contracts).

-WNO had a few changes to the card. Felipe Pena has an injury so the heavyweight title fight is off. Lucas 'Hulk' Barbosa and Dory Aoun have agreed to face off on short notice.

-Two B-Team grapplers won Ocean BJJ trials in Pistoia. Kieran Kichuk won the -80kg bracket and Corbin Laporte won the +80kg. This qualifies them for the big cash bracket coming later this year.

-Kayla Harrison and Merab Dwaliashvili both won their UFC title fights last night by submission. Kayla captured the women's 135lb championship with a kimura from side control and Merab defended his 135lb championship with a power guillotine that eventually turned into an Ezekiel choke.

-EBI 24 announced their return to Monterrey, Mexico for EBI 24. The bracket will include Demian Balderrama, Edgar Chairez, Manny Vasquez, and more.

-Kingsway grappling star Helena Crevar got her black belt from John Danaher

-This Saturday, former WNO headliner Phil Rowe will fight again in the UFC against Ange Loose in a welterweight bout.

What's Coming Up In BJJ

• June 13th: WNO 28 is coming back to Costa Mesa, one of the most grappling loving areas in the world. The main event will feature Mica Galvão taking on Jonnatas Gracie at 185lbs.
• June 14th: Finishers Heatwave is live on Flo and Finishers has been one of the OG sub only shows in the game for a while now. Tons of stars get their start on a Finishers card and there's always something fun to watch there. Pat Shahgholi vs Edmir Sokoli for the heavyweight title.
• June 14th-15th: IBJJF Kid's Brasileiros is live on FloGrappling! There's going to be tons of future black belt World champions taking the mats. We just don't know exactly who yet.
• June 21st: Pit Fighting Championship: Submission Series returns with our first pit series on Flo. Bouts already announced include Paige Ivette vs Maria Ruffatto, Pat Downey vs Deron Winn, and Roosevelt Sousa vs Carlos tassone.
• June 22nd: Ocean Trials returns with more brackets going down in Barcelona, Spain, live on FloGrappling. Winners qualify for the Ocean Pro event later this year where there's a lot of money on the line.
