What's Happening In Jiu-Jitsu
-Pedigo Submission Fighting founder Heath Pedigo (star of the Daisy Fresh documentary) had to get emergency eye surgery after a recent injury. You can read more here.
-The trial of Leandro Lo's killer Otavio Velozo was postponed to November. Read more about the case and its new developments here.
-The ADCC American Nationals went down in Las Vegas, NV with some world-class grapplers in the field. Champions included Achilles Rocha, Taylor Hishaw, Paige Ivette, Isaac Cordova, and more. Matches available exclusively on FloGrappling.
-EBI 25 was announced, with lightweights competing under original EBI rules. Entries include Keith Krikorian, Max Hanson, Gianni Grippo, Ethan Crelinsten, and Ben Eddy.
-PGF season 8 continues to roll, with B-Team's Christos Papadelos and Landon Elmore leading the individual standings and Team Dollamur leading the team standings. More here.
-A car crashed into the Caio Terra Academy's HQ in San Jose, CA. There was no one in the academy at the time and no injuries reported, but significant repairs will be needed.
-3-time NCAA wrestling champion Jason Nolf was promoted to blue belt by Gordon Ryan in Austin, TX.
-The next round of Polaris squads is getting set, with Team South America and Team Asia/Oceania. Grapplers like Gabriel Sousa, Kit Dale, Igor Tanabe, and Sam Nagai have signed on to compete.
-Finishers BJJ was streamed live on the FloGrappling YouTube. The main event saw Derin Yusufi take the welterweight title from Jordan Juliano by split decision.
What's Coming Up In BJJ
- August 28-30th: The IBJJF Master Worlds & Jiu-Jitsu Con is back! This is one of the busiest tournaments in jiu-jitsu, with lots of fun stuff for fans to do.
- August 30-31st: CJI 2, featuring 8 star-studded teams competing for a $1,000,000 prize, airs live on YouTube for grappling fans everywhere to enjoy
- September 6th: The ADCC season begins again as the European, Middle East, & African Trials begins. Five men's trials winners will advance to the 2026 World Championships.
- September 20th: Ocean BJJ Pro Championship is happening again at -80kg and +80kg, with champions Tarik Hopstock and Luccas Lira in the mix the defend their titles.
