What's Happening In Jiu-Jitsu

-Gable Steveson has dropped out of his CJI 2 match against Craig Jones, event organizers announced overnight. We do not know who he will face at the big Vegas event, or even if Jones will remain on the card. Steveson has an MMA debut planned for just two weeks after the event, it remains to be seen if he participates in that.

-It is time again for one of the biggest jiu-jitsu weeks on the calendar with IBJJF's Master Worlds & Jiu-Jitsu Con happening in Las Vegas, NV Thursday through Saturday. While these are the toughest masters brackets of the year for any jiu-jitsu tournament, there will also be brackets for the adults, juveniles, and kids going on in the same venue as part of Jiu-Jitsu Con. Matches start 9:30am PDT.

-CJI 2 is going down Saturday & Sunday, also in Las Vegas, NV at the Thomas & Mack Arena. The Quintet-style team-based event is going to feature eight squads vying for a million dollar prize and the highest paid women's bracket ever. Full rosters here. Full schedule here.

-As part of Jiu-Jitsu Con, IBJJF will host a series of seminars that include over a dozen black belt world champions and half a dozen hall of famers. They are first come, first serve with limited mat space so make sure to catch some of those in Vegas. Full list here.

-PGF wrapped up their eight regular season with Team Dollamur taking home the team championship. Jett Thompson will enter the post-season as the number-one seed after a late surge up the standings. Full standings here.

-Julio Arantes of Vision BJJ won a qualifier to be in the BJJ Stars 17 70kg No-Gi Grand Prix. That tournament will feature eight grapplers in ADCC rules, and the card will feature several gi super fights.

-ADCC Organizer Mo Jassim signaled on his Instagram stories that the 2026 Brazil trials will go to Rio de Janeiro. Jassim will not run the Worlds but he does still run Trials for the American regions.

-The full squads are set for Polaris's upcoming teams event of South America vs Asia & Oceanic Region. The September event will feature

-The IBJJF released a bunch of their HD versions of matches from the World Championships on their YouTube channel.

-AJP Europe will air several of their events on streaming service DAZN, which has regularly hosted combat sports like MMA & boxing before.

What's Coming Up In BJJ

• August 28-30th: The IBJJF Master Worlds & Jiu-Jitsu Con is back! This is one of the busiest tournaments in jiu-jitsu, with lots of fun stuff for fans to do.
• August 30-31st: CJI 2, featuring 8 star-studded teams competing for a $1,000,000 prize, airs live on YouTube for grappling fans everywhere to enjoy
• September 6th: The ADCC season begins again as the European, Middle East, & African Trials begins. Five men's trials winners will advance to the 2026 World Championships.
• September 20th: Ocean BJJ Pro Championship is happening again at -80kg and +80kg, with champions Tarik Hopstock and Luccas Lira in the mix the defend their titles.
