What's Happening In Jiu-Jitsu

-BJJ Stars 17 went down, with Ruan Alvarenga winning the -70kg GP. Alvarenga won a close decision over Meyram Maquine in the finals and would dedicate the victory to the memory of his sister, who passed a month prior to the event. Full recap here.

-Ocean BJJ Pro held their finale for the 2025 season, with new champions crowned in all four divisions. In a twist, Sarah Galvão entered the -65kg division just hours before the tournament and still won gold. Other champs include Marcin Maciulewicz, Pawel Jaworski, and Eleftheria Christodolou. -Speaking of Sarah - she's entered in IBJJF No-Gi Pans. In that same division? Her rival, Helena Crevar. Round 4?

-The IBJJF held their first ever No-Gi Kids Brazilian Nationals. A lot of future black belt champions were likely in those brackets.

-WNO 30 announced the first 4 competitors for the open weight grand prix: Declan Moody, Dante Leon, Michael Sainz, and Achilles Rocha. That all goes down October 24th!

-IBJJF Open Round Up:

• Pedro Bom Bom & Vitoria Vieira won double gold the IBJJF South American Championship. Other champions include Yuri Campos, Iago Martins, and Izadora Silva.
• Aaron Tiegs won quadruple gold at the IBJJF Portland Open, winning his weight and absolute in gi and no-gi. Kathleen Egan took triple gold, and silver in no-gi absolute.
• Thiago Saboia beat Maxim Cote in the finals of the Boston Open open class and division. Brown belt Greta Notaro took quadruple gold.

-ACBJJ 18 happened in Moscow, Russia and UFC contender Arman Tsarukyan submitted former UFC Champion Benson Henderson with an arm triangle in the main event.

-Registration is now closed for the IBJJF No-Gi Pans, as the event has reached capacity.

-ADCC European Trials champion Injana Goodman has started a petition that would include all women's trials champions at the Worlds. Currently only the winners of the second trials receive an invitation.

-In a match between American jiu-jitsu legends, Baret Yoshida beat Jeff Glover by decision at Fight 2 Win. Watch the match here.

-ADCC & CJI veteran Max Gimenis has signed with the UFC in their heavyweight division.

-Fury Pro went down again. Junny Ocasio defended his promotional 135lb title, rising star Taylor Hishaw was victorious again, and Elder Cruz picked up his first official win under his new team (PSF/Adamas).

What's Coming Up In BJJ

• October 2nd: UFC BJJ 3 goes down in the pit in Las Vegas, NV, featuring promotional champ MIkey Musumeci facing Keven Carrasco and 155lb champ Carlos Henrique facing Matheus Gabriel.
• October 3rd: IBJJF No-Gi Pans is happening, one of their no-gi majors, and it returns to New York City after a 5-6 year hiatus. Stars like Helena Crevar and Elijah Dorsey are already locked in for the event.
• October 19th: Main Character Jiu-jitsu returns to Miami. These guys always deliver on a wild night of grappling, if you haven't seen the show yet check it out.
• WNO 24th: WNO makes its Pittsburgh debut! We will feature an eight-man open weight bracket with a big cash prize, and a few other key no-gi super fights.
